Solidarity with Verizon Wireless

Solidarity with Verizon Wireless

For the first time ever, Verizon Wireless retail workers are on strike. These brave workers are fighting corporate greed to win raises, better benefits, and improved working conditions.  Since the retail workers in Brooklyn, NY and Everett, MA organized in 2014, Verizon has refused to negotiate ANY raises, benefit improvements or better working conditions.  These workers are predominantly African-American. Verizon’s CEO, Lowell McAdam, makes about 300 times as much as the workers. Verizon knows that a fair contract for the striking retail workers will set a precedent for tens of thousands of non-union Verizon Wireless workers.  CWA will strike as long as it takes to get fair first contracts for these brave workers.

May 5th has been set up as a National Day of Action in support of the striking members at Verizon East. Across Indiana we will be holding informational pickets and hand billing. The locations are listed below. It is imperative that we support our Brothers and Sisters out East on strike. An injury to one is an injury to all. Thanks in advance for your support.

All,

This Thursday, we need all of you activists to stand up with the Verizon Workers who are on strike. Thursday May 5th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. We need just 1 hr. of your time. This contract is very important to Verizon as well as us. If Verizon gets their way with the pensions changes they have offered, then AT&T will be coming hard after our pensions. We need to stand with our CWA brothers and Sisters. I need you to spread the word at your locations and to get people at the locations I’ve listed below.  Also, please make sure you get pictures.

 In Solidarity,

Tim Strong, President
