It’s Bee Season!

What to Look for
· Before beginning the work operation; observe the surroundings for bees, hornets, wasps, or their hives
· Listen for buzzing, don’t rely on just your eyes
· If detected, ensure you have the corporate approved repellent with you

Avoiding Insect Bites
· Use approved insecticides or repellents to protect yourself against insect bites
· Wear proper clothing such as gloves and long sleeved shirts
· Tuck pant legs into socks or boots
· Tuck shirt into pants
· Wear appropriate footwear

Treating Insect Bites
If stung or bitten by an insect, remove the stinger, if present, by scraping the edge of a credit card across the site. Then…
· Wash the site with soap and water
· Cover the site to keep it clean and apply a cold pack to the area to reduce pain and swelling
· Monitor the site of the sting or bite
· Seek medical attention immediately if there is a noticeable change in appearance (redness, swelling, discoloration
