CWA/AT&T Midwest Bargaining Report #66

May 31, 2018

Fighting Today…Focused on the Future!

Yesterday, the Union met with the Company in informal discussions around Article 26 (Training and Employment Security), Employment Security Commitment and EEOP. These discussions continued to be frustrating. We also had continued discussions about adding work to the unit and issues surrounding appendices. There was some candid discussion, but no real progress was made.

The committee then prepared new proposals to pass to the Company for today. As of now, the Company has not been willing or able to meet.

This morning the Union Committee awoke to news breaking from across the District. It appears, from what we are hearing, members at multiple locations had walked off the job on unfair labor practice strikes in response to AT&T trying to deal directly with the membership and other unfair labor practices.

The Union had indicated to the Company that their actions were upsetting the membership, but as usual, AT&T thinks they know best. It seems that CWA members recognize when the Company is disrespecting them.

CWA members in District 4 want to work. We want outsourced and contracted out functions to be returned to the bargaining unit. We want to reach a contract that allows all of us to continue our careers providing service to our customers and communities that has been sorely lacking in recent years. We cannot allow the downward spiral of poor customer service and lack of investment in employees and communities to continue.

These are certainly frustrating times. Your Union bargaining team is committed to continuing negotiations with AT&T until a fair agreement is reached with our membership’s backing.

Mobilize!

In Solidarity,
