CWA/AT&T Midwest Bargaining Report #25

April 5, 2018

Fighting Today…Focused on the Future!

The Union Committee passed several proposals to the company across the main table today, including; the MOA regarding Guaranteed Personal Time Off, Attachments 1, 2 and 3 in Appendix F, and a letter regarding Appendix G employees.

But the company continued their disappointing attacks on your livelihood and job security. Their response to our very reasonable Article 26 (Training and Employment Security) proposal from yesterday was disheartening, to say the least. The job security counter proposal that they laid on the table does everything but secure jobs! It eliminates pay protection, pooling of titles, allows the company to fire you if you are at risk of surplus and fail a test to be placed in a new position, along with many other appalling changes. They then continued the trend to further deteriorate our chances of employment by passing other proposals to eliminate Appendix A9 (Contracting Out) and Appendix A10 (Contracting Out Review). These are both tools that allow our Union to work towards keeping members employed. Our proposals strengthen the current language that we feel is necessary in this time of tremendous change in the industry in general – and at AT$T in particular.

The benefits subcommittee is meeting with the company this evening to continue discussions on health care.

Your CWA committee continues to work each day and night to arrive at a fair and just agreement.

AT&T needs to get serious and do the same.

Don’t forget our Town Hall call on Tuesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. (EDT).
